MEET OUR NEWEST ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS!

They couldn’t take their eyes off them—Peter and John standing there so confident, so sure of themselves! Their fascination deepened when they realized these two were laymen with no training in Scripture or formal education. They recognized them as companions of Jesus, but with the man right before them, seeing him standing there so upright—so healed!—what could they say against that?

Acts 4:10-13 (Message Translation)

“all the kid wanted was a Bible! Nothing else!”…

I would like to introduce you all to our three newest leadership family members…or what some might call “advisory board”. They are following Jesus to the best of their ability, meet in my home with other “family members” weekly for a meal, prayer, communion, and life together. They have a  passion for the homeless and addict to be set free like few others I know…why?

They were once lost, and now they are found.

They grew up in the projects, or as rural poor, or had been in prison multiple times…they have been set free from heroin addiction and led Narcotics Anonymous meetings and have been discipled by people who came to them. Some grew up in broken, violent homes. They have used all the services in the city, stayed in shelters or under bridges or in hallways or cars…

But know they are all clean and sober and have homes and families…and Jesus…

Please thank God with us for Chino, Curtis, and Maloree.

Looking Ahead

…excited to have the young adults from 180 Life Church with us Saturday!

Service

It was a smaller day number-wise for those who came for lunch and services. Social Security Checks get in mail boxes the first week of the month so our numbers tend to increase as the month goes on just FYI…but we are a church, and the Body is always there.

Pastor Eric from New Life Christian Fellowship joined us along with his son. Unfortunately one of our friends had been drinking too much making another church member with 43 years of sobriety uncomfortable so we had to ask him to come back next week… they left and we will welcome them back. This is a safe place.

We are preaching through the Book of James. We have been following the lectionary, and will continue to do the readings, but I (Bryan) was moved in prayer to teach through this book on how to resist the world while living as homeless.

Sandaya made her wonderful soup and Louise brought the sandwiches and other things and Karen kicked in the cookies. As aways we had what we needed.

love to all

Community Church updates!

I was honored by the family to intern the ashes of our friend and lead her graveside service for the family. It was a very Holy Moment and for the first time I was led by the Spirit of God to use readings and preach on death after a long-term illness such as the Alzheimer’s that attacked our Agnes.

She was loved.

God was honored.

Many wanted to know more.
