FROM THE PARK BENCH TO COLLEGE GRADUATE
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
Luke 17:11-19
She came back to say thank you.
I met her eight years ago when she was eight 1/2 months pregnant, sleeping outdoors on a bench with her baby’s daddy. A friend who knows a lot more than me came along side her too and together we helped her help herself.
I held her son when he was still squirming from birth, later baptized him (and her) and watched her thrive. She graduates next month from Goodwin Tech as a welder.
Friends, just keep showing up, and love folks just like you are.

Service
When we got to the municipal building it was closed off for early voting but thankfully the Lord provides in so many ways. We were able to start unloading on the grass, which allowed us to have extra seats on the wall by the “dinosaur”. Everyone was able to be comfortable and seated.
This was the perfect set up which helped everyone remain focused on hearing God’s word. We heard breakthrough testimonies from Brother Benson on how miraculous and just the Lord is, and how he wipes our sinful slates clean spiritually. He can wipe our earthly records too! Benson was granted a full pardon from a felony he had before he was saved! Liz shared on her new apartment and Katia shared on her journey from homelessness.
I led us into prayer and the readings. The joy of The Lord burst out of everyone. All were so eager to read it was amazing. The wind picked up, but so did our fire for the Lord today.
The message hit home of the many different struggles we face but reminding us just how wonderful The Lord is at restoring. God delights in redeeming and turning our sorrows into joy that advances the kingdom. This was a wonderful day can’t wait to see the many more lives the lord has yet to change.
From the Community Churches
“expecting a cold winter?”…
“ha! Not all for me…I run a church for the homeless…”
We had no services this week as it’s a “bonus week” so I thought I would share one of my interactions from my normal life. A day never goes by that God doesn’t give me a holy moment. It’s not because I’m super-evangelist-man…I just ask God every day to make me aware of him.
…that, and I live a life advancing the Kingdom. Every person we ever see has been placed before us by God. Do you believe this? It’s true.
I was simply buying sixty-five boxes of hand and toe warmers at once. People in line ask why, the checkout ask why, the dude pretending to count my items and squiggle on my receipt ask why. I love this. I’ve had folks hand me cash, others ask for our website or a card…. some bless me. My favorite is the worker who where’s the pentagram always thanks me for what I’m doing.
Living counter-culturally is beautiful.
