"If I've Said This Before..."

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.

“‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land.

Exodus 8:20-22

“….And stop me if you've heard this before: it started raining just as we were in a circle doing our closing remarks. It never amazes me how God stops the rain just in time for Street Church and starts it up just as we're leaving. In the few minutes in the circle, everyone said they saw God in so many places today. That's awesome.”

It is such a blessing being so dependent on the Lord and each other week in and week out. We see each act of God for the miracle that it truly is…it’s like when God told his people to only gather enough manna for the day. If they saved any extra it would rot.

Now “the world” would say we are always “lucky” when the weather misses us downtown but we know better, don’t we?

Service

We had a wonderful day today! Wenda, Emmy Lou and Bryan helped pack and load the truck. We were done by 10:40! I had Wenda check her phone just to make sure mine wasn't on the fritz. I had enough time to go home and make a smoothie! Praise God.

We had a new fella, John Jansen, meet us downtown. He said he heard of Bryan through Valley Brook. He volunteers in Springfield with a similar ministry called Between Bridges. It was a small crew to start. Charlie was there and mentioned Bryan welcomed him back last week. We were happy to see him. He was a big help in unloading the truck.

The gathering started small as the rain had just ended, but as always it grew and grew. Eric blessed us with his worship, prayer and reading (as he always does). Crystal, John and Curtis stepped up with the following passages. I gave a totally unprepared message (which I don't like doing) on the gospel reading - Philip bringing Nathaniel to Jesus and Jesus welcoming Him in. I felt confident in the Lord and I think He blessed it.

Joy made some great pasta and brownie sundaes (whatt?!?!) to hand out and everyone's bellies were full and content.  And stop me if you've heard this before: it started raining just as we were in a circle doing our closing remarks. It never amazes me how God stops the rain just in time for Street Church and starts it up just as we're leaving. In the few minutes in the circle, everyone said they saw God in so many places today. That's awesome.

Joy, Sean, Curtis, and John joined me back at the unit for a quick and easy unload. I'm thankful to be back!

Community Church updates!

I was with the family at West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation last week. I started a few minutest  late when I ran into one of our regulars on his way out to an appointment. I dug out my Ziplock bag of communion and God met us in the front door entry way.

There was so much joy as there always is. Folks are just happy to be together worshipping, singing, having communion, and hearing God speak to us all. I was blown away when I was praying for a woman who had her leg amputated less than a week earlier.

I asked her how I might pray for her…I always ask even if it might seem obvious to me…Jesus asked blind folks what they needed too…

“Oh, just some healing. They took my leg off….” she said causally.

“how are you in spirit?”

“oh, I’m fine, I’m in church and I’m with you!”
