Fixing our eyes on Jesus

“…I turn my little omelet in the fire for the love of God”

                                                                           Brother Lawerence

“This is the kind of thing that feels like it’s real and purposeful”

                                                                             (heard from a friend)

The apostle Paul urged the church in the midst of oncoming persecution;

…“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,

let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneerand perfecter of faith.

For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:1

Looking Ahead

*A short note here on cold weather protocol*

We will meet every Saturday and will only cancel if a state of emergency is declared. Our friends are still out, and showing up in bad weather is the best sermon you will ever preach. If the weather is horrific, we have a "very short” message and communion then lunch and personal needs. We will hand things out from the back of the van. Trust us, it works well.

Service

I had bagged up the lunches the day before, forgetting we had some families from a local church who had asked if they could bring their young children to learn hands-on what a community of Jesus looks like. These little critters folded and bagged masks and added snack bags to the lunches. They rocked it!

We handed out hats and gloves along with hand/toe warmers as we do for the first week of November, December, and January. The hand/toe warmers will be available each week for those three months and will be handed out before and during the service.

Geoff did a great job on lead, although he said he was running around a lot! We lead as Jesus taught us. We had single folks and parents with kids and grandparents with their kids and grand kids. God calls refers this as “this generation”,  not “intergenerational”

Curtis led the service and I was given a message on The Table of Meeting… were we come together at communion to offer ourselves to God and to experience his presence. On an aside, in two weeks I will be having a zoom meeting with David E. Fitch (PhD, Northwestern University) who is the B.R. Linder Chair of Evangelical Theology at Northern Seminary and the author of several books on the Presence of God. We met years ago when I was an Anglican involved in the formation of the missional ecclesiology for the new Anglican Church in North America…. he reminds me of Kramer in every way…let the reader understand.

I say that not to boast of me, or of you, but of what God is doing in our midst. We are living his thesis, which he ripped off from Scripture. We are simply turning our little omelets in the fire for the love of God and singing the Doxology while the world seems to battle and rage... and the aroma of our Feast is wafting over a starving humanity…. and they are lining up each week at the Table… more and more and more.

Well done Beloveds, keep the cooking fires lit.

Love,

Bryan

From the Community Churches

“No, I don’t have any faith background”

…another week without community churches as that’s how the calendar falls… so I was finally able to establish a bank account for Street Church LLC although we continue to work with Faith2Faith while we wait to hear from the IRS about our application…

So I found myself in a bank with managers asking me questions about money and boards and owners and balances and I was answering back in copper coins and daily bread and having all things in common… then I did what I always do and asked;

“I’m not being judgmental, honest, but you have a faith background of any sort so I can try and explain this to you in your language?”

She was comfortable in saying no to me, and I was comfortable in sharing the Gospel in the manager’s office in the bank, in a way that brought her hope in her world where there seems to be none. So I walked out thankful for the opportunity and for the Holy Spirit who spoke.
