“Do you have time for a baptism before we leave?
Have you ever read of the time when ten lepers approached Jesus and asked to he healed of their disease?
…they stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice
‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!
When he saw them he, he said, Go, show yourselves to the priests.”
And as they went, they were cleansed…..
one of them…came back
Cleansing, coming back, and saying thank you… all three of these happened last Saturday at Street Church.
While we were packing up, a person who had returned to be with us after the COVID-era asked if I would baptize her. She is a dear follower of Jesus and has been but baptism had eluded her for many reasons. Today was her day and she was not going to leave until it happened. What an honor!
…and Jessica came back after being baptized last week and we had her Bible for her. She was still glowing…
and as we were loading up, a man and woman walked up to Cynthia and looked her dead in the face and asked “do you remember me?”. She admitted there was a familiarity but could not place it. “You helped up out awhile back when we first came to Hartford. We were soaked and hungry and desperate and you helped us out. We have a work and a place and we wanted to come back and say thank you. You took a chance on us and it paid off. Your kindness motivated us.”
…and of course we all embraced and wept.

Street Church Worship
It was slow starting day due to the Jamaican Festival in Hartford but as is always the case things got moving. Wintonbury Church brought all the food for us again. If you would like to have your church share in this joy follow the link below.
The gathering was peaceful and lovely with is always the case. We ask you all before you leave if you learned any new names, where you saw the Lord move, and how he moved in you. That last part is the most important for us all. Please never forget that God calls us down there to gather and be spoken to and healed. All of us.
As we saw this last weekend when one of those who came to “serve” and was moved by God to be baptized. We have seen this a number of times before with other adults and college students, youth groups.
This is a sacred, Holy space.
It is safe. It is a place where you can be honest and open with Jesus and each other.
That is what makes it a true church.
Blessings,
Bryan
Community Church updates!
This past week we held church at The West Hartford Health and Rehab Community Church.
We meet in a common room, and so we are able to pray for all those passing next to us headed to PT/OT. This facility has long-term care as well as post-op care, so emotions and faith are all over the place. Some are the “locals” while others are transient and are either grateful for a path of healing or frustrated and angry because they were not expecting an illness. We also have the memory care, and staff too.
I was invited again to stay for lunch which is such an honor as it’s “their home”. I sat next to a new friend who shared about her family in the Warsaw Ghetto and how others hid from the Nazis in the Sunflower fields in Ukraine during the war. It was holy. Very, very holy. So I sat there in my collar and listened to my Jewish friend share and I shared about my time in Warsaw and my friends in the Ukraine and it was beautiful.
