Jesus: Not "was", not "will be", but "I AM"

“What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”

2 Timothy 1:13-14

Kenny shared a sound message from one of Paul’s letters to young Timothy… it was encouragement to not only persevere  through hardship and suffering, but to actively “fan into flame” our love and devotion to Jesus….

Jesus is antithetical to our current state of “it is what it is”.

He is not “I was”

He is not “I will be”

….He is “ I AM”

There is no “puppy guarding” in the Kingdom of God…you can’t just sit on what you have. You guard it by using what you have been given.

  • Service

Saturday started off slow, as Bryan had to pack and load the truck at UHaul on his own. Please don’t forget this is a need.

We setup in the snow downtown, which was fun. Malaree took charge of the coffee along with James, who has come twice in a row since hearing about Street Church at Vox. Before service began, Bryan took the opportunity to gather everyone at the altar and explain a bit about how we've been slightly changing our processes, approach, and intent. It was a good moment.

I provided a message on holiness that the Lord had given me. We gathered for communion afterwards. There was a long line of people already lining up for lunch, so Bryan went out to the line and started sharing from there, inviting people to partake in the Lord's supper. Slowly, people got out of line and we had a great feast as a family.

The Cupits brought 100 Chick Fil A sandwiches for everyone, which was a HUGE treat! They met Darryl (the owner) at West Hartford who knew exactly what was going on, and he let them take the warming bags so the sandwiches could stay hot and fresh. Shoutout Daryl.

Everything else went pretty smooth. Enrique returned from a few weeks ago (he had been asking for money a few weeks ago). It looked like he came from the hospital yet again. He didn't ask for money this time, but we hooked him up with fresh clothes and stuff. He was grateful and said he felt like family here.

Looking forward to seeing you all this week!

Community Church updates!

So good to be with friends at West Hartford Health and Rehab Community Church and Brookdale Community Church this past week! Miss Lorna shared a powerful word on the grace of God after our service and we were all moved by the Holy Spirit.

We had new faces with us at West Hartford as they have an after surgery rehabilitation center. We often have people join us at a difficult stage of life and it’s such a joy to be their home away from home!
