“But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.
Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.”
Acts 8:3-4
This verse was preached during one of our study sessions. We were asked to take note of how the Gospel spread, or rather through whom it was spread….
“those” and “they”…
Nameless and nondescript. This is God’s plan.
I sat among thousands and thousands of believers from all walks of life in hundreds of countries and I shared stories of those in the Street Church family sharing the gospel wherever they went.
“I think the better translation” he said, “was that they ‘gossiped” about who Jesus is, what he was saying and what he was doing” our teacher told us. I like that.
So I gossiped about what is happening here with the leader of World Vision in Mongolia, the director of the Gideons in Pakistan, and a pastor and seminary professor in Nepal to name a few… and as I was leaving a man from Singapore and his wife trapped me and thanked me…”brother, your zeal for worshipping Jesus has affected all the tables around you. I wanted to let you know that”.
“I am glad to know that, God is doing amazing things, how could I not praise him?”
Last Week’s Update…stay connected!
From Jody,
Welcome back, Pastor Bryan! You were missed while you were away and we all look forward to hearing about your journey and experience at the conference you just attended! We have been praying for you and are thankful for your safe return.
God sees you. God is with you.
It was ladies day today at Street Church.
Everything went very smoothly. Joy, Sean, Jeff and I packed up the truck and we had a good group downtown to help with the entire service. Crystal shared a wonderful message of how God is always with us and Joy then encouraged all of us to share which emotion were you experiencing when God showed up for you, and several of us shared our stories. We made the announcement that the coffee table was shutting down during our service and that went very well. Crystal, Arthur, Joy, Sean and I unpacked the van.
We served ~ 80 with the other 20 sandwiches handed out as seconds. Thank you, Ruth for preparing our sandwiches and providing the fruit. We used the pre-packed lunches that were already in the bins and we all agreed it takes a lot of the stress off to have these prepared ahead of time, not knowing how much help will be available on any given Saturday morning. There is one bin left for next week, I’m not sure how many are in there. I didn’t take a close look but I didn’t see many lunch supplies in the white cooler; I believe we are in need of everything. (Pastor Bryan, we wondered if you’d like to pilot pre-packing the lunches and give aways during the week? Maybe on a Thursday before the weekly meeting?). Ruth still has her supply of chips, etc. with her for Vox to use next month.
Please keep our Maria Salas in your prayers as well as the Jacobs family.
From the Community Churches
“6,823 miles…that’s how far I traveled to share with the Global Church what is happening here at Clairebridge in West Hartford”
We sang, and I preached.
Some followed along, others slept. When I came by with communion, we feasted together.
This is the global church. Isn’t she beautiful?
Jesus went a lot further for them than I did.
