Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any trouble
with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ,
so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
They read and hear that others are supporting them, and that our “thoughts and prayers are with them”….
but in the midst of a war, with bombs falling, air raid sirens wailing, homes being blown up….it is hard to hear the words of comfort….
I imagine that is how Thomas felt when his hopes and dreams and friend was destroyed.
Jesus knew his state of mind,
they were upstairs in a locked room, afraid…
Don’t be afraid, here, touch me.
No, I’m not saying I am Jesus.
I am saying that those of us whom have been comforted by the God of all comfort are given the honor of walking to those in fear and offering the Gift we have been given inside our jars of clay.
So, after I had met many during the days I was there, in small groups, preaching at a worship night, handing out much needed food…my final act was to wrap them in my arms.
Many wept.
Including myself.
Thank you for sending me and letting me love the war-made homeless like we do back here.
I love you all and missed you…

(from Cynthia)
Hello everyone,
Saturday was a great day! Louise and her husband, Lisa and 2 of Louise's friends helped load the van. [Because of the Hartford Marathon] We decided to bring only 1 table for the coffee and soup, the altar box and give the sandwiches and gifts out from the van. It worked very well. [Our preacher] Curtis was stuck in the marathon traffic so we begin reading the scriptures, and ChiChi, one of our new and weekly regulars from VOX Church sang gospel songs and everyone joined in when they could. Exciting! We then served Communion. Curtis arrived and preached a good message!!
A regular came with a friend and asked for money to pay her light bill. They have asked for help often, and we herd they have have asked many other organizations. A reminder that folks will hustle us so please be aware *. A man named LeRoy asked if we had clothes he was in need. Truthfully his coat and pants were muddy). I referred him to Christ Church and Church at the Pond. We gave away all of the men's gifts and changed some of the women's gifts into males by taking out something's.
We had 50 sandwiches and fruit , God provided enough food for everyone that came. Louise made DELICIOUS CHICKEN SOUP! God showed Himself mighty! Hallelujah!
Shalom,
Cynthia
