A woman who was a follower lived in the city of Joppa. Her name was Tabitha, or Dorcas. She did many good things and many acts of kindness. One day she became sick and died. After they had washed her body, they laid her in a room on the second floor. The city of Lydda was near Joppa. The followers heard that Peter was at Lydda and sent two men to ask him to come at once. Peter went back with them. When he came, they took him to the room. All the women whose husbands had died were standing around crying. They were showing the clothes Dorcas had made while she was with them.
Peter made them all leave the room. Then he got down on his knees and prayed. He turned to her body and said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes and looked at Peter and sat up. He took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then he called in the faithful followers and the women whose husbands had died.
He gave her to them, a living person.
News of this went through all Joppa. Many people put their trust in the Lord.
Acts 9:36-42
I wish and prayed as many others did that our sister, Sue, would have opened her eyes like Dorcas and sat up and been given back to Ray and Lauren…
…but she did not, instead she got up and opened her eyes to see the face of Jesus…
It would take a long time to write up the exploits of this woman of God and in the end she would have dismissed it all and given us her smile and laugh and tell us she loved us.
Sue would text me in the am letting me know how to pray and how lovely the birds were…and that she loved me. She was by biggest fan and she was one of the shortest people I knew.
As her Great Gettin’ up Mornin’ drew near her texts changed and the few words she used to mention her discomfort and pain began to disappear and she simply began to say good morning, did you hear the birds? I love you.
I want to live like Sue did, but all the more, I want to die like she did…
forgiven, free, and loved.
Let it rip by beautiful friend. We all miss you dearly because great love leaves a great hole… but trust me, you are gonna get mobbed for a long, long time when you welcome your friends.
Thank you Sue.
Thank you very much.
Last Week’s Update…stay connected!
Hey fam (from Kenny),
Firstly, prayers for Sue's family as she passed away last night after a tough battle with cancer. But we praise the Lord for sending us such a good and faithful servant. What a tremendous fighter for Christ she was. We also lift Brother Benson's brother Pastor Jarrey up in prayer as he is about to receive his glory as well.

Service
We had a great Saturday. Bryan and I loaded up at U-Haul. I was greeted by a great group of volunteers, all of them who had been to Street Church before. It was hot so we set up the giveaway (underwear) tables in the shade on the grass under the tree behind the lunches.
Jeff and Rick showed up! Jeff hasn't come since he went in for a stem cell treatment on his blood cancer in February. Unfortunately, the stem cells didn't take (2% failure rate) and he's back evaluating his options. Big Sam led a prayer for him (and Rick) as we laid hands on him. Please continue to pray for Jeff (praise that he got a new place!). Rick seems to be healing well since he had his toes amputated. Continue to pray for his healing as well.
It was a quiet, peaceful service. The Lord gave me a message about the availability of God's word and approachability of Jesus. I'm thankful we have a savoir who desires to commune with us and loves us so much.
There was a nice time of prayer and communion. Lunches were handed out without any issue - people waited in line very patiently. People saw the Lord move in great ways.
Hope you all stayed safe and continue to stay cool!
..from the Community Churches…
“wait, you can’t stop me from going with my husband”…
Those words were hard to hear as she stood by the secure door after he husband left to return to his apartment on “the other side” in independent living.
Getting old and sick is a reality for many. We sat over cold drinks for an extra hour this week as me and Laura-the-intern talked about healing and faith and dementia and Christian Ethics and how our faith changes our thoughts.
Then she got deep into the Secret Place and shared;
“when that lady was talking, I was like I heard the story of Jesus asking to be let in and how sad He is that some do not want to be with him”…
What about you?
Has God transformed your mind so that you “think” in Biblical Stories without having to think about it… or better still… have those thoughts transformed your actions without thinking about the…we had a great time talking to folks on the street about that too
