Together As One

Three regular leaders from three different churches led Street Church collaboratively for the first time last week. Youth from churches across the state met me on the streets and I gave them permission to be the disciples they are…and they did.

I imagine this is why Paul thought with love and tears when he heard his friends where continuing strong in his absence.

Revival of the parts, unifying the body at the Table, and expanding the Kingdom as adopted family….

To coin a phrase from a dear friend who just released her first book…

“for this I prayed”

Hello Street Church Family!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, it’s a bit warm but beautifully so. I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

We had a wonderful service this past Saturday. The last few raindrops ceased and the hot sun didn’t poke it’s head out until we broke for our ending circle and photo. So, the cloud cover kept us “comfortable.”  

The service was calm and Jeff gave a very moving testimony about his faith journey and how God was pivotal in his life’s course, how his prayers were answered. It was extra special because his daughter Jennifer and granddaughter Emerson were with us. Jeff did a great job leading for the first time and his wife Martha helped us pack up at storage in the morning. Thank you, Jeff!

Crystal from Vox and Mary from Wintonbury also helped out at storage in the morning and Kathy (from Vox?) helped us unload. Ruth helped at storage, too, and with our service readings, prayers and music. She left a bit early for her parent’s 30th wedding anniversary celebration. Thank you, Ruth! We prayed for our pastor, for our friend Sue Davis and shared a few stories of Sue’s faith and service to our beautiful ministry. We will miss Sue dearly.

We ran out of sandwiches early/50 but then Sandaya  brought 50 more and everything went. I would guestimate we served 75. Chi Chi brought homemade peanut butter cookies.

..from the Community Churches…

Great week with the community churches. It’s really special watching Mary and Laura-the-intern minster together. We were at West Hartford Rehab and a few new friends joined us as we sang and prayed and worshipped Jesus together. It blows your mind when you watch folks thumping the stump of an amputated leg in time with worship music… especially when you know the surgery was less than five months ago. We praise God for who He is, not what he gives us.

Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear that music ringing.
It finds an echo in my soul.
How can I keep from singing? 

I am not saying this because I am in need,

for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation,

whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
